Housing

While people in Auckland are denouncing the price of houses, here in Stratford teenagers are buying their first homes.

The average house price in Central Taranaki is $238,000, nearly $760,000 cheaper than Auckland. For this price or less you can expect to pick up a tidy three bedroom home for your family. At $140,000 you can even buy a tidy two bedroom property with tenants paying $240 per week. The most expensive house found online for enquiries more than $1.3 million offers a modern four-bedroom home with 3.5 acres of land.

The region hit new record high median sales prices in April 2017 as the national median price role 10% to $540,000 year on year. Regions seeing record median prices were Waikato, Wellington and Otago. Here is Central Taranaki as median prices are well below that average which allows our district to still remain affordable to new home buyers and families.
