Stratford Optometrists

The Stratford and wider community has been fortunate to have had a local optometry practice since the 1950’s. Stratford Optometrists has changed hands a number of times over the years, and is now independently owned by Phillipa Charteris.

Stratford Optometrists is located on Miranda Street, and is housed in a building which has been specifically designed for an optometry practice. There is ample parking available for patients, as well as easy access.

We are lucky to have a therapeutically endorsed Optometrist looking after the eye health of our patients, and who are ably supported by the front of practice staff.

The extensive range of services that we supply includes:

• A comprehensive eye examination
• Retinal photography and OCT Scans – which aid early detection of eye disease
• Visual Field Tests
• Corneal Topography
• Contact Lenses
• Low Vision Aids – including magnifiers, large print items such as clocks, keyboards or telephone
• Referrals to Ophthalmologists for eye surgery or laser treatments
• ACC endorsed care of minor eye injuries and foreign body removal.
• Minor repairs to frames.

As well, Phillipa is an authorised Irlen Diagnostician and Behavioural Optometrist. This is a specialised field which predominantly affects, but is not limited to, problems with the development of eyesight of younger children.

We have an extensive range of frames available to suit the varied lifestyles of our patients, whether they require optical glasses, sunglasses, safety glasses, swimming goggles, fitovers or ready readers.

The practice is affiliated to Enable, the Ministry of Health, and the Ministry of Social Development and works closely with those Departments ensuring eye health care is available for everyone.
